Two labourers died after falling into a hole on a building site in Denpasar at the weekend.

The men, identified as Sanan and Satir, died at the scene after the accident at the project on Jl Sulawesi where work was underway on an underground car park.

A third man, named as Dadang, was seriously injured in the accident.

The Rp8-billion project is due to accommodate around 50 cars, and is being conducted by contractor PT Sekar Kedaton Nusantara.

Denpasar Police chief Wayan Sunarta said that the bodies of the dead men had been transferred to Sanglah Hospital for autopsy and an investigation had been launched. He said that the police would investigate the possibility that proper safety standards had not been maintained at the site.
