NUSA LEMBONGAN, Bali — Police have detained a bungalow worker over the alleged theft of US$900 from a foreign tourist staying in Jungutbatu, Nusa Lembongan.
The tourist had been staying at the property with his wife since October 5. According to police, the couple later moved to another room after requesting accommodation with a better view.
Before changing rooms, the tourist said he checked a blue wallet containing US$1,300 in cash. Because the room did not have a safety box, the wallet was kept inside a drawer beside the bed.
On October 11, the tourist checked the wallet again and discovered that only US$400 remained. He then reported the missing US$900 to the accommodation and later contacted police.

Officers from Nusa Penida Police began investigating the case and questioned people connected to the property.
The investigation led police to a 22-year-old bungalow worker identified by the initials DSN. He was detained at his accommodation in Jungutbatu on October 14.
Police also seized US$900 in cash that investigators suspect is connected to the case. Other items taken as evidence included a motorcycle, an iPhone 11 and clothing allegedly linked to the investigation.
DSN, who is originally from West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, is being held while police continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the missing money.
Authorities have not publicly disclosed the nationality of the foreign tourist.
Police announced the detention on October 16.
The case remains under investigation, and the worker has not been convicted of any offence.
