Unscrupulous Satpol personnel at the port of Gilimanuk who take bribes from people trying to move to Bali without authority should be sacked, according to the Jembrana transport chief, Dede Heryadhy.
He said it was not acceptable for officials or Satpol to seek or accept money from people without the required residence papers. And he wants an investigation into the extent of corruption at the port and says normal administrative sanctions are not enough to stamp out the practice.
“If the sanctions imposed are only a reprimand, it could be that the perpetrators will act up again.”
He said the transport department did not have authority to act itself on allegations or suspicions of corruption at the port.

I agree with Jembrana transport chief, Dede Heryadhy. But then who will bite the bullet?
The ugly truth is that Bali is slowly being colonized by those seeking a better life regardless of the impact it will on its socio-economic scene. The environment being the poor cousin.
