Foreign Tourist Survives Solo Crash on Steep Road in Nusa Penida

Bushes where a foreign tourist fell on Pohcaboll’s steep slope, Nusa Penida, Sunday.

KLUNGKUNG, Bali – A foreign tourist survived a solo motorbike crash on Pohcaboll Road, Pejukutan Village, Nusa Penida, Klungkung, Bali, on Sunday afternoon (Oct 26, 2025). The incident, captured on video by local resident Kadek Soma, quickly went viral on social media.

According to Nusa Penida Police Chief AKP I Ketut Kesuma Jaya, the tourist was found safe despite minor damage to the Yamaha Fazzio motorbike.

“The rider is safe. We urge tourists to be cautious on extreme routes and to ensure their vehicles are in proper condition,” Kesuma said.

He added that the accident occurred when the tourist lost control of the automatic scooter while descending a steep slope, causing the motorbike to slide into nearby bushes. The incident was deemed a result of unfamiliarity with the vehicle and the challenging road conditions.

Pohcaboll Road is known for its sharp turns and long downhill sections. Kesuma also reminded motorbike rental operators to be responsible when renting vehicles to foreign visitors.

“We urge rental owners to educate tourists about the terrain and proper riding techniques on steep roads, and to refrain from renting vehicles to those who are inexperienced with automatic scooters,” he emphasized.
