JAKARTA — Indonesia has appointed a new national police chief, with the leadership change followed almost immediately by a major reshuffle across the Indonesian National Police.
President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated Suyudi Ario Seto as Chief of the Indonesian National Police, or Kapolri, at the State Palace in Jakarta on October 1, replacing Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
Wahyu Hadiningrat was inaugurated as deputy police chief at the same ceremony.
The change at the top was quickly followed by a wide-ranging personnel rotation. A National Police telegram dated October 2 ordered the transfer and appointment of 88 high-ranking and mid-ranking officers.
Of those, 70 received promotions or new assignments, while 14 senior positions at National Police headquarters and 19 regional police chief posts were also changed.
Among the senior headquarters appointments, Asep Edi Suheri was named Inspector General of the National Police, Dedy Kusuma Bakti was appointed head of the Security Intelligence Agency, Asep Safrudin became head of the Criminal Investigation Agency, Hery Herjawan was appointed head of the Security Maintenance Agency, and Rudi Darmoko became head of the Police Education and Training Institute.
Several regional commands also received new leadership, including Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, Banten, Bali, North Sumatra, South Sumatra, Riau, Maluku, East Nusa Tenggara and Yogyakarta.
In Bali, Brigadier General Pasma Royce was appointed as the new Bali Police Chief, replacing Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya.
The appointment was included in National Police Telegram No. ST/2205/X/KEP./2026 dated October 2.
Pasma previously served as deputy chief of the East Java Police. Before that, he held several senior positions, including Surabaya Police chief and West Jakarta Police chief.
He is also a graduate of the Indonesian Police Academy’s 1996 class.
Daniel Adityajaya, who had led Bali Police since 2024, was reassigned as a senior officer at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency.
The Bali leadership change is part of a wider rotation affecting 19 regional police chiefs nationwide.
Among those appointed were Dadang Hartanto as Jakarta Police Chief, Hengki as West Java Police Chief, Roy Hardi Siahaan as Central Java Police Chief, Dekananto Eko Purwono as East Java Police Chief and Langgeng Purnomo as Yogyakarta Police Chief.
The National Police said the reshuffle was part of routine organisational management, career development and efforts to maintain continuity in police operations.
“Mutations and job rotations are part of the organisational dynamics of the National Police,” Police Public Relations Division chief Johnny Eddizon Isir said, adding that the changes were made according to organisational needs and personnel development.
The appointments place both the National Police and Bali Police under new leadership at the beginning of October.
