Locals and tourists in North Kuta discovered the decomposed body of a newborn baby on the beach on Tuesday morning.

“The corpse of the baby was spotted by people at Petitenget Beach,” said North Kuta Police spokesman Aldi Alfa.

The body was floating in the water just off the beach when it was noticed, Alfa said.
Local residents retrieved it and reported the matter to a local security officer, who then contacted the police.

“The security officer, Melky Sedeksole, reported that there was a dead baby. We received the report at about 8.25am,” Alfa said, adding that officers were attempting to trace the parents of the newborn.
