Bali’s Udayana University played host this week to a gathering of academics specialising in Balinese subjects.
The Bali in Global Asia – Between Modernisation and Heritage Formation conference ran from Monday to Wednesday, and was attended by over 200 Bali specialists from around the world.
The conference, hosted as part of 50th anniversary celebrations at the university, was opened on Monday by Bali Governor I Made Mangku Pastika.
Indonesian Bali specialists from universities in Yogyakarta and other cities attended, as did their international counterparts from Australia, the USA, Japan, Germany and other countries. Many of the delegates presented new papers on Balinese subjects during the conference.
