JAKARTA ~ A 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck off the west coast of Aceh province on Tuesday, but there was no threat of a tsunami and no reports of damage, geologists said.
The epicenter of the quake, which hit 68 kilometers deep and struck at 5:29pm, was 112 kilometers southwest of provincial capital Banda Aceh, the Meteorological and Geophysics Agency said.
Aceh was the region worst hit by the quake-triggered Asian tsunami in December 2004, with close to 170,000 killed.
