A Russian woman, MA, 26, caught importing methamphetamine weighing two kilograms was sued 17 years in prison and fined IDR10 billion.
“The defendant without any rights and unlawfully imported narcotics class I more than five grams,” said Public Prosecutor Gusti Putu Gede Atmaja in a session in Denpasar District Court on Wednesday.
The prosecutor considered the defendant has violated Article on narcotics in the first indictment.
The indictment stated that the defendant was arrested by Customs officials Denpasar, Bali Ngurah Rai Airport, on December 7, 2014, because she was caught carrying narcotics type of methamphetamine for 2,101 grams from Hong Kong.
When the defendant and the evidence pass through the X-ray machine, the officer saw a suspicious object in the bag.
Officers’ suspicion were finally paid off when the defendant’s bag was opened, and in the bag officers found five plastic wrap contains ‘shabu-shabu’ ( crystal meth ) weighing two kilograms.
Defendants accompanied by her legal counsel, Hari Purwanto next week on Wednesday (22/4) will propose for plea.
