DENPASAR ~
Bali Provincial Government will set the amount of fare into the various attractions on the island.
“We plan the rates for foreign tourists to be higher than for domestic tourists. However, this will be applied to the tourist objects that become assets of Bali provincial government,” said the Head of the Provincial Revenue Office Bali I Made Santha in Denpasar on Wednesday.
According to him, if the amount of retribution is made the same as it is today, probably not a problem for foreign tourists because it is still relatively cheap. But for domestic tourists, especially students will feel it is expensive.
“With the lower rates for domestic tourists, we expect the children will be more motivated to preserve the attraction, especially those contain historical value,” he said.
His party plans to assess the amount of entry fees to attractions, as well as efforts to optimize potential revenue outside tax.
Santha suggested that the overall rate contribution to regional income is still relatively small so far because only contributes for about 1.87 percent of PAD (local revenue) Bali which is IDR2.8 trillion.
“By reviewing the tariff, we are optimistic that its contribution can be increased to 4-5 percent for the revenue,” he said.
Related to the plan, Santha claimed have conducted a small survey by targeting the guides because they will have direct contact to offer tour packages to tourists.
Attraction that becomes Bali Government assets are Bajra Sandhi and Cultural Park (Art Center), both in the city of Denpasar.
“Therefore, there may be a rise in the tariff, the tourists will also be able to get better service compensation, including hygiene,” said Santha.
