Traffic-Beating Flyover Takes Off

Work will begin next year on a flyover planned for Simpang Siur, Kuta, so that congestion on Bypass Ngurah Rai can be overcome before an APEC summit at Nusa Dua in 2013.

Related traffic improvement work at the airport junction now under consideration would involve widening the road reserve by up to two metres — using airport land — to create extra turn lanes.

The chairman of Commission III in the Bali legislature, Putu Agus Suradnyana, announced the moves.

He warned that during construction of the flyover at Simpang Siur traffic congestion would worsen.
