Counters at Ngurah Rai Airport Switch Its Function to Passenger Service

Counters of domestic airline ticket sales at Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, converted to passenger service office starting on Sunday.

“Ticket sales counter will be functioned as a passenger service office (customer service) of related airline,” said General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I Ngurah Rai Airport Herry AY Sikado, in Kuta, Badung, Friday.

According to him, the passenger service office will be used to serve the needs of passengers, such as refunds, change of route, and print the tickets booked through short messages (SMS).

Meanwhile, the head of the Ngurah Rai Airport Authority Yusfandri Gona, explained that the abolition of ticket sales at the airport in accordance with the instructions of the Minister of Transportation Ignatius Jonan, which contains three points one of which is to prevent the practice of brokering at all airports in Indonesia.

“Removal of the ticket sales counters on the consideration to improve the security and service so that ticket brokers can be prevented,” he said. He explained that on average there are 400-500 passengers per day who buy tickets directly in the domestic airline counter at the airport.

“Technology is one of the reasons as well. We are able to access the purchase of ticket whenever we want, for example via online with a sophisticated system should be used, or directly from the ticket sales to operators and travel agents,” he said.
