
Charge: Indonesia’s severely endangered orangutans are being sent into a “killing field” of illegal logging and poaching in Kalimantan, after being rehabilitated back into their natural habitat, the Centre for Orangutan Protection alleged on Thursday, urging the goverment to protect release sites. The Jakarta-based organisation said it had recently discovered four orangutans that local residents were selling for up to Rp2.5 million (US$280) each. The government said it was investigating the claims.
