Surabaya Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Hong Kong

A CATHAY Pacific flight that originated in Surabaya on Tuesday made an emergency landing in Hong Kong after experiencing engine trouble, injuring five people.

The more than 300 passengers and 14 crew members on board the CX 780 flight were evacuated, a spokesman for the Civil Aviation Department said.

“The plane made an emergency landing after discovering a problem with one of its engines,” he said.

“Five people were injured after the landing and all of them were sent to hospital.”

The spokesman was unable to confirm media reports that the engine had caught fire.
