JAKARTA ~ Two moderate earthquakes struck off the coast of Papua early on Wednesday, seismologists said, but there were no reports of casualties or damage.
A 5.5-magnitude quake struck at 2:42am with an epicenter about 197 kilometers west-northwest of the provincial capital of Jayapura, the US Geological Survey said.
It was located around seven kilometers below sea level.
A second quake, with a magnitude of 5 followed 10 minutes at a nearby spot, 35 kilometers below sea level.
