DENPASAR, Bali — Prosecutors have sought a two-year prison sentence for an Australian national accused of ordering methamphetamine for personal use in Bali.

Sean Duncan Millar, 50, appeared before the Denpasar District Court on Thursday, September 18, 2026, where prosecutor Gusti Ayu Yunita said he had been proven to have illegally possessed and used narcotics.

The prosecution charged Millar under Article 127(1)(a) of Indonesia’s 2009 Narcotics Law, which concerns the unlawful use of narcotics for personal consumption.

Millar, accompanied by his lawyer Jupiter, told the court he would deliver an oral defense, known as a pledoi, at the next hearing.

Presiding judge Eni Martiningrum adjourned the case until Thursday, September 24, 2026, giving the defense an opportunity to present its arguments.

Methamphetamine Allegedly Ordered for Personal Use

According to court documents, the case began when Millar met a man identified as Made, also known by the alias Roofair Indo.

Police have reportedly placed Made on their wanted list since June 2026.

The court documents state that Millar allegedly ordered approximately 0.6 grams of methamphetamine from Made in April 2026. He reportedly paid around Rp1.7 million (US$96) for the drugs before meeting Made at the Trimulia Guest House in West Denpasar.

Police subsequently arrested Millar at the guest house before he could consume the substance.

During a search of his room, officers allegedly found a plastic bag containing clear crystalline material on a bedroom table. Police also seized a bong from the floor, a glass pipe from a shelf and an iPhone 16, which Millar acknowledged belonged to him.

A police weighing report dated April 5, 2026, recorded the crystalline substance at 0.6 grams net, or 0.8 grams including its packaging.

A forensic laboratory examination conducted the following day confirmed that the substance was methamphetamine.

The defense will present its response to the prosecution’s sentencing demand at the next hearing on September 24.
