
Bali Kite Festival at Padang Galak Beach, Sanur.
Denpasar – A total of 1,042 participants took part in the Bali Kite Festival, held on July 22-23, 2023, at Padang Galak Beach, Denpasar City, as part of the efforts to preserve Bali’s traditional game.

“This event not only provides a creative space for kite enthusiasts, but also fosters teamwork, especially in raising the kites,” said Agus Arya Wibawa in Denpasar on Sunday.
Arya Wibawa welcomed and appreciated the organization of the Bali Kite Festival by the Bali Kite Art Community.
The festival, which attracts international tourists, took the theme of “Bayu Segara Kerthi,” which signifies honoring the sea and wind. Participants not only wore Balinese traditional clothing but also accompanied the event with traditional Balinese gamelan music and songs related to Dewa Bayu.
“The young and adult participants displayed excellent kite-flying techniques. It was impressive to see how they flew their kites simultaneously without any collisions,” he added.
Putu Chris Budhi Setiyawan, the event’s chief organizer, stated that this was the second edition of the Bali Kite Festival.
Various types of kites, such as pecukan, bebean, janggan, janggan buntut, and kreasi, were showcased and competed during the event.
On the first day, 318 participants took part in the competition, and on the second day, the number increased to 724 participants, with an additional 93 participants competing in the pindekan category.
Throughout the festival, all participants were required to fly kites while dressed in traditional attire.
