Police Say Six more Bodies Unearthed in Backyard

JAKARTA ~ Another six bodies, including that of a toddler, were unearthed on Monday in the backyard of a house belonging to the parents of an alleged serial killer, police said.

The grisly discovery brings to 10 the number of bodies found buried in the garden of the East Java residence since last week, police said.

“The police team dug out another six bodies today in the backyard,” police spokesman Abubakar Nataprawira said. The bodies included a mother and her three-year-old daughter, he said.

Murder suspect Verry Idham Henyaksyah, also known as Ryan, is now suspected of killing at least 11 people, including one whose dismembered remains were found in a bag on the side of a road in Jakarta.

“There might be more victims in this case,” the spokesman said.

Police say the suspect, a 30-year-old Koran recital teacher, has confessed to killing at least four people, including his gay lover and an unidentified Dutchman.

Indonesia has executed four murderers in the last month, including a self-styled shaman who killed 42 women and drank their saliva in a black magic ritual intended to increase his powers.
