There are nine Balinese dance that are predicted to become the world’s cultural heritage to UNESCO.
Dance submission process as the traditional intangible cultural heritage has been more than three years ago, and has successfully established nationally.
Those traditional dances are Barong Ket, Joged, Legong Kraton, Drama Tari Wayang Wong, Drama Tari Gambuh, Topeng (mask) Sidakarya, Baris Upacara, Sanghyang, and Rejang.
Those dances, according to the Head of Bali Provincial Cultural Office, Dewa Putu Beratha as representatives of three types of dance in Bali.
“This nine dances are representing three genres. Those are art, art of ‘bebali’ and ‘balih-balihan’,” said Beratha, on Monday.
Beratha said, the process of submission to the Unesco through Directorate General of Culture of the Ministry of Education and Culture, has been done.
It’s just a matter of judgment on the part of Unesco concerning the establishment of a world cultural heritage.
“It’s already submitted and we are striving to Unesco. Directorate General of Culture of the Ministry of Education and Culture is already legalized. The document has been submitted and has entered, we just need to wait for the follow up,” said Beratha.
In addition to the nine dances that have been designated as intangible cultural heritage of Indonesia, another set of cultural work is Gringsing Tenganan, Endek Bali and Kamasan Classical Painting.
“There are 3 other cultural heritage works that also set out, Gringsing Tenganan, Endek Bali, and classical painting of Kamasan. Tomorrow woud be handed the certificates of commencement,” he said.
It would be done at Jakarta Arts Building by Minister of Culture and Education to the governor of Bali, Made Mangku Pastika, Tuesday.
