Sustainable Tourism Development Communication Forum Set Up

JAKARTA ~

The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has formed a Tourism Sustainable Development Communication Forum, which included members from the private sector, academicians, non-governmental organizations and five government institutions.

Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Mari E Pangestu stated here on Monday that she hoped the forum will serve as an effective means of coordination and communications for all elements involved in sustainable development and tourism business.

“This forum is very strategic in seeking inputs for the drafting of the Medium-term Development Plan 2015 – 2019 in the tourism sector that will serve as blue print for the vision, program and action plans for sustainable tourism development,” she elaborated.

On the occasion, five ministries presented strategic plans, namely the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, the Ministry of Development Planning, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

A number of international speakers also provided inputs such as Biran T. Mullis, the CEO and Founder of Sustainable Travel International (GSTC).
