Government of Klungkung Regency, Bali will build a statue of legend in Puncak Mundi hill, Klumpu Village, Nusa Penida.

According to the district head I Ketut Sukla, the construction of the statue in the highest places in Nusa Penida is to strengthen the character of the area as a spiritual tourist area.

He said, Nusa Penida is known as a spiritual tourism destination, since visited by thousands of people from mainland Bali during ‘piodalan’ (Balinese ceremony).

Consequently, the arrangement and construction of the statue in the top of Puncak Mundi hill as the highest point on the area is considered very important and urgent.

“If the statue is successfully realized, from a distance we can see Nusa Penida adorned with decorative colored lights,” he said.

The construction of the statue is still in the stage of study, whether to build the gods symbols or legendary figures of Nusa Penida history or related to the characteristics of Nusa Penida.

It will add to the attractiveness of the area of spiritual and marine tourism, so more and more domestic and foreign tourists will come to visit the island.

Klungkung Regent, Nyoman Suwirta appreciated the plan and expected the location arrangement of the statue really got the attention of all parties.

With establishment of a statue at the highest point in Nusa Penida, it is expected that the statue could be a tourist icon. “I do not know what kind of statue that will be built, the idea of making this statue is one of Klungkung development idea,” he said.
