Governor of Bali Invites Students to Model Ngurah Rai

Bali Governor, Made Mangku Pastika, asked the students to follow the personality and spirit of heroism from I Gusti Ngurah Rai as a preparation to face the competition of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015.

“As a student of University of Ngurah Rai, you have to be careful because this campus bears the popular, powerful, sacred name, which is also has a meaning of warrior spirit, patriotic, and courageous soul. Therefore, the personalities must also be flared starting from this campus,” he said when delivering a public lecture at the University of NgurahRai in Denpasar, on Saturday.

According to him, globalization is identical with competition. With the implementation of AEC, no more boundaries between countries in Southeast Asia.

In addition, Pastika added, the government is not able to protect both labors, as well as trade in goods and services so that competition will be even harder.

“Therefore, I expect the students to prepare themselves, both in physical abilities, intellectual, and mentally. At work, people are not going to ask you the questions like where you from? What is your religion? And what’s your status? But the question is what you can do, “he said.

To answer it, Pastika asked the students especially who have not work yet to continue to train themselves, equip themselves with the knowledge, apply discipline manners, not quickly give up, work hardly, and the most important is to have a spirit and soul like the hero named I Gusti Ngurah Rai.

“To understand life, sometimes we have to look back, but we need to face life forward,” he said.
