Cultural tourism sector become a mainstay of Badung Government revenue that continue to support the tourism sector.
This is expressed by the Regent of Badung, Anak Agung Gde Agung in Mangupura on Thursday.
“The leading sector of Badung regional income is the cultural tourism sector which is used to finance the construction carried out in Badung for the realization of development in rural areas,” he said.
According to Gde Agung, such as Subak (traditional irrigation system) competition in Badung is held regularly every year, with the aim to preserve Subak to motivate subak community to remember ‘dharma Pemaculan’.
The competition is expected to be implemented continuously to support the development of cultural heritage and tourism in the area.
Gde Agung who is also the figure of Puri Mengwi said that the land conversion is recognized unavoidable because of the rapid development. To overcome this, it has made various efforts including the functioning of Subak itself from preparing the means of production , setting up the infrastructure and developing the latest technology in Subak leads to organic farming.
In terms of regulation, to avoid a burden for farmers who still preserve Subak, they are given incentives in the form of tax relief from 20 percent to 80 percent and even up to 0 percent to make farmers relieved from the burden of tax.
“For Badung regency, property tax is not the only source of income, but as an instrument to regulate the land conversion itself,” he said.
In addition, currently in Petang District has been opened a new area of 100 hectares with irrigation which are ready to irrigate 150 hectares to 200 hectares to create the tunnel and in the process of construction including irrigation flows both primary and tertiary.
