DENPASAR ~
Bali provincial government to follow up the results of the monitoring of Ombudsman Representative of Bali related on cheating found on national examinations (UN) of SMA / SMK (Senior/vocational high school) 13-16 April 2015 by inviting Disdikpora (Provincial Education Agency) of regencies / city in Bali.
“We expressed gratitude to Ombudsman for conducting monitoring on the implementation of UN on SMA / SMK level and will use it as an input of evaluation in order to realize a better quality of education,” said Deputy Governor of Bali Ketut Sudikerta in a meeting which attended by the ranks of Ombudsman and Kadisdikpora (Chief of Education Agency), in Denpasar on Thursday.
In addition, the meeting also invited the high school, vocational school, and junior high schools headmasters which are members of the School Principals’ Working Group (MKSS).
“We hope these findings become a reference so that the same thing does not happen again in the implementation of the UN on junior level,” he said.
In addition, he asked for the support of all parties to make UN credible, honest, transparent and dignified. “Do not fool our children by letting them cheat or help them by giving an answer. Let our children complete the exam independently and according to their ability,” added Sudikerta.
According to him, if the students are educated with patterns of fraud, the human resources are not qualified and not able to be the winner in an increasingly tight competition
Meanwhile, Chief of Ombudsman in Bali Umar Ibnu Alkhatab stated that through the work of his party on a number of schools, they found irregularities in the implementation of UN this year. Cheating is dominated by the use of gadget. “Cheating is triggered by weak discipline of the supervisors,” he said.
Other fraud, there are still students who work together and the exam room conditions were less supportive. Of course, the findings cannot be used as an excuse to claim that the UN is not going well as Ombudsman only use the samples in the monitoring.
Umar added, although some frauds were still found, he claimed that the implementation of UN with Computer Based Test (CBT) is much better than Paper Based Test (PBT). “The exam is much more progressive with significant changes,” he said.
In addition, the UN result which is not determining the graduation of students also brought the spirit of change that is quite positive for the world of education. UN this year is more focused on measuring the integrity of students, schools and government as the organizer of education programs.
To that end, he hoped the good faith of all parties to guard this good cause. Various monitoring results are expected to be used as an evaluation by the relevant parties so that the same thing does not happen again in the implementation of UN on SMP (Junior high school) level that will take place next May.
Moreover, Ombudsman also suggested relevant agencies to evaluate the performance of supervisors and school students that are still found using gadget on the implementation of UN. “We also encourage the implementation of UN using CBT can be totally implemented starting in 2016,” he said.
