Bali Provincial Government advised people in drought-prone areas to harvest water when rainfall is quite high.
“It is a pity if the water is wasted in current rainy season. Whereas in the dry season, the water becomes very expensive and hard to get,” said Head of Community and Village Government (BPMPD) of Bali Ketut Lihadnyana, in Denpasar on Monday.
According to him, the area of the water crisis will be very susceptible to the condition of poverty. Therefore, the water should be managed properly.
“In poor and dry areas, if there is assistance to renovate houses the recipients sometimes have difficulty, because they have to buy water,” he said.
Lihadnyana stated, the community wants to harvest water or store water in the rainy season so that in the dry season they do not need no spend additional expense to buy water.
To collect rain water, in addition using ‘cubang’ (rain reservoir), also can use large plastic water tank. Bali Provincial Government, he said, starting this year will also help the community to provide various water reservoirs.
While some areas of the drought-prone in Bali is in the eastern region of Buleleng regency, in the district of Kubu and Abang, Karangasem Regency and on the island of Nusa Penida, Klungkung.
“At Nusa Penida, Bali provincial government has also facilitated the community with tools that can be used to draw water in Guyangan, making it easier for people to get water,” said Lihadnyana.
