SYDNEY ~ Australia has warned its citizens to avoid the Fijian capital after fresh threats of violence in Suva risked inflaming an uneasy standoff between the military and the government.
Fiji’s military has issued the government with nine “non-negotiable” demands, including dropping a probe into military commander Voreqe Bainimarama and refusing foreign intervention in the country, Fiji television reported.
In response to the threat, Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs issued a renewed warning for Australians to think carefully before traveling to Fiji.
