Academician of Faculty of Law of Udayana University (UNUD) Denpasar, Dr. Dewa Gede Palguna expected the government of President and Vice-President, Joko Widodo- Jusuf Kalla maintain the culture of Bali.
“For Bali, because of its uniqueness and is also part of Indonesia, I wish Jokowi to hear the aspirations of the Balinese people eg cultural identity,” he said in Denpasar on Friday.
According to him, the cultural distinctiveness of the island is expected to remain “steady” or maintained under the leadership of Indonesia’s seventh president.
He also expected to that former mayor of Solo and Jakarta Governor to listen to the aspirations of the community, including a number of ongoing issues such reclamation.
“For example, if that is the authority of the president, and there is a strong basis of environmental and social analysis that is impossible to be applied and threatens Bali for example, both geographically and culturally, why should be hesitate to cancel it. But if it does not affect anything, public can take it to legal recourse through Court,” he said.
While concerning the political relationship between Jokowi with majority representatives in the House which are not Coalition of “Indonesia Hebat”, Palguna stated that Indonesia is adopting a presidential system so it is not easy to tackle against the president.
“I just want to remind that the political parties cannot use the oligarchy of political parties as the final judge is the community,” said that former judge of the Constitutional Court.
