DENPASAR ~ Two thieves were arrested by officers from West Denpasar Police last Friday on Jl. A. Yani, Denpasar, police said.
Denpasar Police spokesman Ketut Suwetra said the pair, Komang Arisandi alias Caluk, 24, and ex-prostitute Mardiana alias Ana, 30, were arrested after receiving a report from Denpasar resident I Nyoman Purna Ada, 43, whose car was stolen on January 20.
Suwetra said the two thieves had allegedly been stealing cars and motorcycles since 2007 and had stolen at least 25 motorcycles, selling them on in Buleleng for Rp1-2 million (US$84-168) per vehicle.
“Four of the motorbikes have been recovered from the buyers, and we will continue to look for the others,” Suwetra said.
According to officers, during questioning, the couple revealed the name of another thief who worked with them to steal vehicles.
“We hope we can arrest the third member of this group soon,” they said.
