KARANGASEM, Bali — Bali immigration authorities have placed two French nationals on a national monitoring system after identifying them as the people featured in an adult video believed to have been filmed at accommodation in Karangasem earlier this year.

The pair, identified by the initials EMC and JPS, entered Indonesia through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on January 6, 2026, using Visa on Arrival permits. Immigration records show they left the country on January 18.

Officials believe the approximately 13-minute video was recorded during that period at a property in Karangasem, although it was not uploaded to an adult platform until around August, by which time both had already left Indonesia.

Buleleng Immigration Office head Anak Agung Gde Kusuma Putra said officers identified the pair through cyber monitoring and immigration data checks after the video began circulating online.

Because both individuals are currently outside Indonesia, immigration authorities have added their details to the Subject of Interest system, which is linked to immigration checkpoints across the country.

If either attempts to re-enter Indonesia, the system is expected to alert officers at the airport or seaport. They would then undergo an initial examination before being referred to the Buleleng Immigration Office for further legal processing.

Bali Governor Wayan Koster and Bali Immigration Regional Office head Ramdhani speak at a press conference on foreign national enforcement in Jimbaran, Bali, on October 26, 2026.

Bali Governor Wayan Koster has also responded to the case, saying he had written to the immigration minister as well as French diplomatic representatives in Indonesia.

Koster said Bali remains open to foreign visitors but expects them to respect Indonesian law and local cultural values.

Authorities have not announced any criminal conviction in connection with the video, and the case remains subject to further immigration review if the pair return to Indonesia.
