SEMINYAK ~ Bali’s first international triathlon is to be held next June, at Jimbaran Bay and the surrounding areas, the organizers said this week.

The event would be staged on June 24 and include a 1.5-kilometer swim in the bay, a 40-kilometer bike race around Nusa Dua and a 10-kilometer sprint through Jimbaran Village, organizers Bali International Triathlon, LLC said.

First prize is a two-night stay at a luxury villa at the Four Seasons at Jimbaran Bay.

“Our primary goals in arranging the initial Bali triathlon are to promote tourism on the island and to create a long-lasting, quality race that will attract both professional and top age group athletes,” event organizer Robb Strom said, adding that entrants were expected to come from around the world.
