Three Women Arrested over Identity Cards

NEGARA ~ Three women were arrested in Gilimanuk on Monday for not carrying appropriate identity cards, police said.

The women, identified only by their initials – LDE, 38; HLM, 30; and FTMY, 41, from Java and Lombok – all said that they had been living and working in Gilimanuk.

LDE said she has been living in Gilimanuk for four years and recently rented a space to sell rice and supply laborers for others.

“I have been selling from this space for two and a half months,” she said.

FTMY claimed she had been working in an electronics shop for one month.

The head of demographic monitoring in the area, Eko Susilo, said that the three women were arrested during an operation in Gilimanuk.

Based on local regulations, people from outside Jembrana, living and working there, should apply for an identity card within three days of arrival in the regency.

The women are currently being investigated and awaiting a court date.
