Thieves Steal Truck from Sleeping Driver

DENPASAR ~ A truck driver reported being tied up by six men who crept up as he slept and then stole his truck, police said.

Head of East Denpasar Police Gede Ariantha said the driver Mardani, 46, had parked his truck next to Ayu Alam plant sellers on Ngurah Rai Bypass, Denpasar, so he could sleep in a small shelter.

Mardani claimed he was attacked around 2am on March 5 by six men wearing masks who beat him with iron bars and tied his arms and legs together with electric cable and then robbed him of his wallet, cellphone and stole his truck.

He said as soon as the men had gone he shouted for help and was freed by locals who heard his cries and immediately called the police.

“We’re trying to find the six suspects and are planning to take this case to Denpasar Police for more assistance,” Ariantha said.
