DENPASAR ~ A traditional market selling flowers and animals for religious ceremonies will be established at Pekraman in Renon following an agreement announced this week between the village head, Made Sutama, and the Mayor of Denpasar, Ida Bagus Rai Dharmawijaya Mantra.
As part of the plan, city authorities will zone some areas for agriculture. The market will be run on a modern management system and the mayor has said the area must be kept clean.
The city will also offer training to selected Pekraman residents in applying modern technology to plant and animal husbandry.
Pekraman people at present have to travel some distance to buy traditional offerings for the temple ceremonies that are an important part of Hindu family and community life.
