Public Order Agency Secures 30 Beggars and Homeless People

Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) of Badung Regency, Bali held raids targeting homeless and beggars and secured 30 of them.

“The team involved in the operation are 28 officers to reach a number of areas in Badung including Kuta and the surrounding areas,” said the head of Satpol PP Badung, I Ketut Martha accompanied by Head of Dalops, Dewa Made Oka, on Thursday.

He said dozens of beggars were captured while begging in a number of roads and shops around Kuta area.

Half of them are boys whose age is still below 10 years. “Then we bring them to the Satpol PP office Badung,” said Martha.

He claimed, based on data collected from 30 beggars, 13 of whom came from Munti Gunung and 17 people from Pedahan, Karangasem regency.

The adults are between 18-40 years as many as eight people. While the rest are age 2 months to 15 years as many as 22 people. “They were secured for violating Badung Regency regulation on cleanliness and public order,” said Martha.

Ketut Martha explained, although they are violating the law, they are not subject to any sanctions. They only recorded and given guidance not to be beggars. They have been sent back to their hometown through Social Service of Badung regency.
