SINGARAJA ~ Buleleng Police’s Crimes Unit has arrested four men accused of stealing a number of motorcycles, it said.
According to officers, surprisingly the man said to be the brains behind the group, Gede Rudy Sribudayasa, 23, was the son of a Buleleng crimes investigation officer.
Buleleng Police chief Istiyono confirmed the arrest of Sribudayasa, and said it was of no consequence that his father was a police officer.
“We must follow procedure in this case, as we would for any other criminal,” Istiyono said.
He said since the beginning of 2008 there had been 27 motorcycle robberies reported in the area, which they attributed to the group, and had seized 18 bikes during arrests, leaving nine reports to investigate further.
The other three men arrested were, Dody Eka Saputra, 23, Singaraja, Putu Adi Sustrawan alias Lengkong, 21, from Kalibukbuk, and Nyoman Sukrada, 31, from who allegedly helped to sell the stolen motorbikes.
