Police Threaten to Tear Down Villa over Violations

DENPASAR ~ After being accused of not dealing aggressively enough with Suluban Villa, Pecatu, which allegedly violates building regulations, the Public Order (PP) Police Unit of Badung has served the owner with a subpoena, a police official said this week.

At a session of the Bandung Legislature on Tuesday Badung Public Order Police Chief Adi Arnawa said the subpoena called for the owner to stop all construction, which he said violated Building Permit (IMB) guidelines.

Arwana said that he would force the owner to request a new IMB by threatening to tear down the villa.

“I already instructed my staff to re-check the site and instruct the owner to revise the IMB and adjust the shape of the building or tear down sections that violate the IMB,” he said.

He added that the villa’s owner would be given a chance to correct the building, as the police must give a warning about each violation before taking further action.

“If the warnings are ignored, then action will be taken,” he said.
