One Dead in Sanur Disco Brawl

SANUR ~ A government worker from Nusa Penida who went for a night out with friends at a Sanur disco died in Sanglah Hospital after being beaten up by another man following an argument, police said.

Kadek Kasman, 37, received head injuries in the brawl and was taken to Sanglah by employees at the Merpati Cafe in Jl. Matahari Terbit. He died at 7am while doctors were treating him for serious head and abdominal injuries.

South Denpasar Police said Kasman’s attacker, who they named as Adi Prasetyo, 39, a building worker from Padang Bai in Karangasem, did not know the victim.

They said there was a “small incident” involving the two men at the disco at about 2:30am on Saturday, following which Prasetyo assaulted Kasman.

Police would not say whether alcohol was involved. Witnesses said Prasetyo appeared angry before the assault.

He fled after Kasman collapsed from numerous blows to the head and body but was arrested two days later at his house at Coral Bay, Padang Bai.

Police are holding Prasetyo under Article 351(3) of the Criminal Code. If convicted he faces up to seven years’ jail.
