DENPASAR ~ Denpasar Police got new vehicles this week to patrol key tourist areas and ensure continuing security, police said.

The vehicles will be used to patrol in area of Denpasar and Sanur, according to officer Singgamata.

“This is part of a new program to forge a better relationship between the people and police,” he told reporters.

“It’s out duty to ensure the safety of the people and that they are comfortable and are not afraid of the police,” he said, adding that the program was also aimed at stemming a rising number of motorbike thefts in the Denpasar area.
