Passenger surveillance has been intensified ahead of the Christmas and New Year 2015 holiday season to anticipate any untoward incident, the Ngurai Rai International Airport authority revealed here on Monday.
“Tightened surveillance is highly needed as Bali remains Indonesia’s most favorite tourist destination for both domestic and international holiday makers,” remarked Herry A.Y. Sikado, the airport’s general manager.
For this purpose, Sikado stated that a monitoring post has been set up at the arrival gate of the airport’s international terminal and another one at the domestic terminal, both of which will be opened by January 4, 2015.
The airport authority has received the support of not just its officials but also several military and police personnel as well as health workers.
“We want to ensure that all supporting operational facilities function well,” he affirmed.
The peak of traffic density, both domestic and international passengers at Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, estimated occurs the day before New Year.
General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar Herry AY Sikado, on Friday said that to anticipate this, the airport authority has accommodated airline that will increase its flights.
In 2014, five airlines serving the domestic have applied for extra flight.
Five national airlines are the Nam Air for Surabaya with the frequency of flights 14 times with the total passenger capacity of 2,464 people, Indonesia Air Asia to the route of Yogyakarta with 14 flight frequency capacity of 2,520 people.
While the three airlines route Jakarta are Sriwijaya Air with 14 frequencies of 2,464 people, Citilink 70 flight frequencies with a capacity of 12,600 passengers and Garuda Indonesia for four frequencies flight with a passenger capacity of 648 people.
So the total extra flight for five airlines reached 116 flights with a total passenger capacity of 20, 696 people.
Besides, the two airlines of China: China Airlines for one-time addition of 158 passenger flight routes to Taipei, Taiwan and Jetstar Australia (14) with the amount of passengers of 2,340 people.
One Asian Atlantic airline is recorded as an international airline that serves charter flights with three routes namely Bangkok, Thailand, Fukuoka and Matsuyama, Japan with a total passenger capacity reached 756 people.
