DENPASAR ~
Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) of Bali Province plans to gradually evaluate the Smoke-Free Zones (KTR) sanctions in order to provide a deterrent effect for the offenders.
“The sanction is still too low by a fine of 50 thousand, but gradually we will evaluate the regulations with the Bali Provincial Health Office,” said Head of the Bali Satpol PP Made Sukadana in Denpasar.
According to him, outside Bali the fine for offenders could even reach 50 million. “We do not need to reach up to 50 million. With 10 million or 5 million people will think twice to do so,” he said.
Sukadana added that Bali Provincial Regulation on KTR, inevitably has to be evaluated given the danger of the cigarette smoke.
“KTR regulation does not prohibit people to smoke, but contains regulations so that people will not smoke carelessly, including not to sell cigarettes. For example, in office canteens is not allowed to sell cigarettes,” he said.
On the other hand, they will be more focused to hold inspection at various hospitals and schools in the region of Denpasar.
“In addition, the inspection of KTR will also target Ngurah Rai airport and there will be directly held hearings misdemeanor,” said Sukadana.
Previously, they have conducted spot checks on General Hospital of Sanglah for several times and have immediately done hearings misdemeanor against offenders.
