Immigration Offices Emphasize Law Enforcement for Foreigners Related to AEC

Immigration Offices throughout Bali Province to emphasize more on supervision of law enforcement against foreigners related to the implementation of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015.

“We will improve service and supervision, especially law enforcement. This year we will emphasize on law enforcement,” said Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights Bali I Gusti Kompiang Adnyana in Denpasar on Tuesday.

The implementation of the 2015 ASEAN Community single market is expected to increase the number of workers who have special skills to enter the countries in Southeast Asia, in addition to the movement of the free trade for goods and other services.

To minimize immigration violations committed by foreigners such as residence permit and visa permit, then they will conduct surveillance and law enforcement which are more firm.

The immigration offices will also involved other officials like the police, prosecutors and local governments.

According to him, a number of areas on the island that will get special scrutiny from immigration officials are Buleleng, Denpasar and Kuta in Badung.

Regional head of Ministry of Law and Human Rights in Bali previously has deported 408 people from a number of countries during 2014.

In addition, 11 foreigners are currently in the process of repatriation to their respective countries.

“They may not know or do it in purpose. That’s what we have to uncover,” he said.

Most violators of immigration, he added, are Chinese citizen found in Buleleng and working in the infrastructure sector and hospitality.
