GILIMANUK ~ Police believe two unidentified men found with injuries at the port of Gilimanuk and who later died may have been the victims of a hit-run driver.
A truck driver found the men sprawled in the parking area at the fishing dock on Tuesday and called police, who took them to the Gilimanuk medical post.
They were treated there and then, because they had no identification, police took them to the Gilimanuk Port Police office to wait for local security to collect them.
Police said one of the men, about 40, who gave the name Usman, was evasive when asked where he came from, saying first that he came from Lumajang, Banyuwangi, then saying he was from Pesiapan, Tabanan.
Two hours after they were found and given medical treatment, the men again lost consciousness. Police took them back to the medical post, where they died.
The bodies were handed over to the Jembrana Public Health and Social Welfare Office.
Head of Gilimanuk Port Police Nyoman Suparta said the port parking area was crowded when the men were found injured and police believed they may have been hit by a truck.
