UBUD ~ Locals and tourists in Ubud were forced to search for petrol last week after petrol stations ran dry again.
“This is a difficult situation. It doesn’t make sense that gasoline should be so difficult to find in such a popular tourist destination. It could have a very negative effect on Ubud,” local resident Wayan Radika said.
Tourists with rented cars also had difficulty understanding why the shortage would be allowed to happen.
“It’s strange that gasoline can be so difficult to find in Bali. I rented a car specially to go to Kintamani,” Danish tourist Fredicksen said.
Management of one Ubud petrol station said the shortage was caused by a lack of regular deliveries from supplier Demo Manggis in Karangasem.
“Usually we receive two tanks full but our last delivery was only one tank,” a staffer at the Bedulu Ubud Gas Station, Ketut Wesnawa, said.
