DENPASAR, Bali — A 30-year-old French man has been deported from Bali after immigration authorities said he was allegedly involved in producing and promoting sexual content through an online platform.

Identified by his initials, LR, the man was deported to France through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on Thursday, August 27, after being subjected to an Immigration Administrative Action.

According to the Denpasar Immigration Office, LR held a visit stay permit and entered Indonesia on July 20 through Ngurah Rai Airport using a Visa on Arrival (VoA).

The case came to light after the immigration office received a report from members of the public about LR’s activities while he was in Bali.

Officers from the Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement Division then examined his travel documents and activities during his stay in Indonesia.

Immigration authorities said their investigation found that LR had allegedly produced and promoted content containing sexual material through an online platform referred to as “OF”. He was also allegedly promoting links directing users to the content for sale.

“The action against LR was taken after an examination and immigration process based on the information received. We ensured that every stage was carried out in accordance with procedure until he was returned to his country of origin,” Denpasar Immigration Office head R Haryo Sakti said in a written statement.

Sakti said immigration supervision of foreign nationals in Bali was not limited to checking their documents and immigration status, but also included their activities while in Indonesia.

The head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Ramdhani, said alleged violations of immigration regulations would be dealt with in accordance with applicable rules.

He said the action against LR was part of immigration supervision and enforcement aimed at maintaining public order and security in Bali.

The Denpasar Immigration Office also urged members of the public to report foreign nationals suspected of violating Indonesian immigration regulations.

LR was deported as an immigration administrative measure. The information released by authorities did not state that he had been criminally prosecuted or convicted in Indonesia over the alleged online activity.
