GIANYAR ~ A former policemen and patient at Bangli Mental Hospital was arrested after stealing two motorbikes on the night of March 19, police said.

Gianyar Police chief Nyoman Suarnata said Nyoman Suar, who previously was an officer in Bangli, stole the first motorbike from Jl. Brigjen Ngurah Rai, Bangli, and the second when he ran out of petrol in Temesi, Gianyar.

Owner of the second bike Kadek Heri Susanto, 25, said he was parked next to Suar, who looked like he was fixing his bike, and spoke to him but got no reply.

Susanto said he reported to police when he returned to his bike around 8pm but found it had been stolen and a bike with a flat tire and no petrol had been left in its place.

Suarnata said Suar was positively identified by Susanto in a police lineup and was taken back to Bangli for treatment.
