Denpasar Starts Inspection on Alcoholic Drinks

Department of Industry and Trade (Desperindag) of Denpasar City held an inspection (Sidak) of alcoholic beverages to modern store in following the Regulation of the Minister of Industry and Trade.

Head of Disperindag Denpasar Wayan Gatra in Denpasar, on Monday said his team conducted the inspection in an effort to follow up enforcement of the Regulation on the Prohibition of Alcoholic Beverages sold throughout modern stores in Indonesia.

“Denpasar government immediately issued a ban on selling alcohol regulation across small stalls in Denpasar,” he said.

According to Gatra, from the results of the inspection, all modern stores no longer sell alcoholic beverages type of class A, B, and C. However, there is still a modern store that sells beer but does not contain alcohol.

This proves all modern shops are in compliance with the Regulation of Ministry of Trade and Regulation of Mayor of Denpasar. He ensured that Denpasar is clean with the sale of alcoholic beverages (Mikol) in all modern stores.

To keep the public away of alcoholic drinks, Disperindag Denpasar will introduce local law that prohibits selling alcoholic beverages in small stalls in Denpasar.

Before the rule is applied, they will spread formal letter to all stalls as well as prohibit Banjar (a traditional neighborhood organization) to sell alocoholic beverages during a bazaar. “Modern Stores with license is prohibited from selling Mikol moreover event like bazaar, for that we will soon issue a circular letter,” he said.
