Teen pop icon Britney Spears has her heart set on adopting a Balinese orphan who lost his family in the December 26, 2004, Indian Ocean tsunami, American media reports said this week.

The 25-year-old US mother of two who recently split from her husband read about 4-year-old Wang and was interested in adopting him, according to the Hollywoodrag website.

“She instantly wanted to help him and is sponsoring him until she can find out more and she has even written to officials seeking advice,” a source was quoted as saying. Bali was not hit by the killer waves, though the northern tip of Sumatra suffered the most fatalities of the disaster that affected many regions around the Indian Ocean. (BT)
