Bike Riders Told to Turn on Lights

DENPASAR ~ A community campaign will educate motorcyclists about national riding safety laws passed on June 22 which require motorbikes to travel with their lights turned on during the day.

The law will be explained in a series of workshops to vehicle dealers, who will be encouraged to trade in motorbikes whose lights come on automatically.

Denpasar Traffic Police will conduct the campaign within the community, through the mass media and in co-operation with local governments as well as with vehicle dealers prior to the new law being endorsed by Presidential Decree.

“The goal is to get people aware of traffic rules and to obey the law,” said Jaladri Sik of Denpasar Traffic Police.
