Bank Indonesia Cautious towards Counterfeit nearing the End of Year

Representative Office of Bank Indonesia (BI) Bali Province wary of counterfeit money circulation by utilizing a particular moment one of them towards the end of 2014.

“We keep cautious on counterfeit money circulation by increasing the educational characteristics of the authenticity of the rupiah,” said Deputy Director of Communications and Community Empowerment Unit Representative Office of Bank Indonesia Region III Bali Nusa Tenggara, Gentur Wibisono in Denpasar on Tuesday.

According to him, the anticipation related to the circulation of counterfeit money remains a concern for the central bank as to improve the quality of money’s material, evaluate the security system and to educate the characteristics of the authenticity of the rupiah to the public.

They appealed to the public, especially for those who want to do transactions in large amount of money, to use non-cash transactions such as clearing to prevent false money.

BI Bali previously has recorded that the findings of counterfeit money in Bali and Nusa Tenggara reduced in the third quarter in 2014 that as many as 986 sheets, less than the previous period reached 1,001 sheets.

The decline in counterfeit finding, remembering that BI Bali keep giving education about the characteristics of rupiah authenticity to the public such as targeting the traditional markets.
