Bali Targets US$1.7 Million from Issuing Foreign Employee Hiring Permits

DENPASAR ~

The administration of Bali province has set a target to earn Rp22 billion, or about US$1.7 million, in the form of taxes collected through the issuance of foreign employee hiring permits during 2015.

“We are optimistic that the target will be realized, and it is proper as the target is in accordance with the number of foreign employees in Bali,” Head of Bali Labor and Transmigration Agency I. Gusti Agung Ngurah Sudarsana stated here on Wednesday.

According to him, the target was decided based on the assumption that there will be 1.8 thousand foreign employees working in Bali within a period of six months to a year.

Every person is charged US$100 per month, with an exchange rate of Rp10.5 thousand per US dollar.

“The administrative activities related to the issuance of the permits are being managed online,” Ngurah Sudarsana stated.

In addition, the office is coordinating with the immigration authority regarding the possibility of a tourist visa being misused for working in Bali.

In 2013, the provincial administration collected Rp30 billion, or about US$2.3 million, in the form of permit charges.
